Costume Crafts - Illinois Wesleyan University
Because Costume Crafts encompasses such a large focus, I have learned it helps to concentrate focus on a special topic or range for the semester. For my most recent class, the focus was masks and technology. We began with learning face casting, molding and simple paper mache' structures.
The class was then tasked with conceptualizing a soft sculpture deep sea angler fish which also contained a simple wired LED worked by a push button switch.
The final project was the choice of full or partial headpiece which must contain a simple animated feature whether by hinge, pulley or any other operational animation mechanism. This project was also lit using either L-Wire or LED strip tape which was remote controlled by a color changing battery pack.
